The Chester M Alter Arboretum is an arboretum located on the campus of the University of Denver. The Arboretum consists of over 1,800 trees, including many rare specimens for Colorado. Specimens include: Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron gigantium), Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides), Japanese Cryptomeria (Cryptomeria japonica), Cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani), Baldcypress (Taxodium distichum), as well as numerous species of Maples (Acer)and Oaks (Quercus).
