Newcomb Art Gallery website

The Newcomb Art Gallery was born out of the rich creative legacy of Newcomb College, the former coordinate women’s institution of Tulane University, internationally renowned for its fine arts program and pottery studio.
Since its founding in 1996, the gallery has sustained this heritage by presenting a broad array of exhibitions and public programs that are intellectually challenging, innovative, and socially relevant, all free of charge.
The gallery presents exhibitions reflecting diverse media, ideas, and aesthetics. Shows of important historical art movements alternate with those that reveal current trends or confront issues of contemporary concern. The work of well-known artists such as David Smith, Marsden Hartley, and Diane Arbus, as well as artists with a Newcomb affiliation are regularly shown.
The Newcomb Art Gallery collections are focused on the crafts produced at Newcomb College from the late 19th through the early 20th century with more than 400 examples of pottery, metal work, embroidery and bound books.
