The Sir William Campbell Foundation governs Campbell House Museum and is charged with the preservation and interpretation of Campbell House and related histories. Built in 1822 for Sir William Campbell, the sixth Chief Justice of Upper Canada, Campbell House has important early legal associations. It is an outstanding example of Georgian architecture and the oldest surviving building from the town of York. The museum welcomes artists and others bringing contemporary perspectives on the theme of freedom of expression as well as the house and its continuing place in the city’s life.
