Searing Iron

This searing iron has a wooden handle and a metal shaft. On the shaft is inscribed "Born 5.1 Co."

Searing irons were used to cauterise tissue for medical reasons. Skin conditions or open wounds on horses were alleviated with the use of a searing iron.
