Of a Great City

Woodblock print of Theodor Dreiser, author of "American Tragedy", in his New York apartment. Esherick incorporates prismatic forms to lead the eye straight to Dreiser at his desk. It resonates a "Metropolis" look, with sharp angles and a few curves to settle the poignancy of the print.
Did you know?
Dreiser and Esherick first met at the Hedgerow Theater in Rose Valley, PA. Esherick tried to introduce himself, yet Dreiser rudely ignored and avoided him the whole day. A shaky start to what turned into a lifelong friendship.
