Bretby Art Pottery Closinee Vase

This is one of the most popular series wares ever produced by Bretby Art Pottery.

Introduced in 1895 it comprised simple slip cast shapes with a dark matt background. The background formed a striking contrast to the hand painted birds and blossom in bright enamels. The ware was produced into the 1930s, by which time it was made in practically every shape and colour produced at Bretby Art Pottery.
