Bombay Squat Pan

Sharpe’s Pottery made toilets for exporting all around the world. This example of a squat pan would have been one of many toilets sunk into the floor with space for a person to stand with their feet either side, and squat! Often they were installed in prisons and other large institution buildings. Sharpe’s designed one especially for the Calcutta market which included a trap in the pipe to prevent snakes from crawling up from the sewers!
