Chintz Quilt

Fine chintz quilt, made about 1815 from Haydon Bridge area. The fine quilting, elaborate pattern, date and place of origin make it highly likely that this quilt was the work of Joe the Quilter, who lived only a few miles away at Warden. An interesting feature is the central printed panel. These panels were produced specially for the centres of quilts between 1800 and 1816.
