Yak

Yaks live in the cold, snowy mountains of Tibet where they have to walk great distances to find food. If they can't find water, they eat snow instead.

Their thick, heavy coats help to protect them in temperatures as low as -40ÂșC but are so effective that they must move around as the seasons change in order to avoid temperatures that are too warm for them.

It is thought that yak were first domesticated 3,000 years ago. There are now about 12 million domestic yak and only 500 wild ones
