Flying dinosaur

The pterosaurs were the first vertebrates to evolve true flight, first appearing around 220 million years ago. Take a closer look at the way the bones are arranged. Rather than a long arm with a hand-like structure at the end, almost ALL of the wing membrane is supported by an extended fourth digit. That’s like having a little finger or ‘pinky’ that’s several feet long, and using that to fly with!
