Duck-billed platypus

The duck-billed platypus is a very unique mammal. They are monotremes- which are egg-laying mammals. Once the eggs hatch, the young suckle from the mother by lapping up milk which she secretes through pores in her skin.

The male platypus has a venomous sting or spur on his hind legs which he uses for defense. The platypus also has several other interesting capabilities. It can use electro-location to find its prey by detecting electrical impulses from muscle contractions!
