Reeve's muntjac

Reeve's muntjac are chestnut brown and have a dark shape on their foreheads. The males have small antlers and the mark on their foreheads is a clear V. The sharp upper canine teeth are used for defence.

This species comes from China, Taiwan and Japan and is not native to the UK but has been introduced to parts of south and central England, Wales and parts of the Scottish/English border.

Muntjac have long tongues for stripping leaves from branches. They are so long that a muntjac can lick its own eyeballs!
