Introducing ‘Write in the City’, the most central, the most culturally located, the most caffeinated, and the tastiest creative writing classes and writing workshops around.

The autumn series of ‘Write in the City’ writers’ workshops is now in full swing at Café Joly in the National Library of Ireland,Kildare Street. The 10.00am workshop is booked out, but it is still possible to book onto the 12.30pm to 3.00pm workshop for four consecutive Saturday afternoon writing workshops beginning on Saturday, 29 October. Each one of these Saturday afternoon workshops will have the added attraction of being based around a convivial lunch-break.

The workshops are being given by Yvonne Cullen, “...the best creative writing teacher in Dublin”, according to Abie Philbin Bowman of The Dubliner magazine. “Her mission is not to produce one Nobel Prize-winner and eleven nervous wrecks, but a happier, healthier relationship with your creativity,” Bowman adds. “Yvonne writes beautifully, and can pass on the skill” says Grace Garvey of The Irish Times.

Yvonne’s creative writing workshops at the NLI are modelled on her highly successful and popular ‘Writing Train’ writing workshops. They are aimed at those already writing, as well as at new writers who have a first project clearly in mind. Tuition and discussions will feature equally in the Saturday afternoon sessions. Particular inspiration will be drawn from the marvellous prompts in the NLI. The workshops will also incorporate an introduction to using the National Library Reading Room. Inspiring sustenance will be provided by Café Joly coffee and cakes and during the Café Joly lunchbreak.

The sessions will be capped at twelve participants. Bookings should be made directly with Yvonne Cullen on writingtrain@gmail.com and on 086 1701418.
