Bath Abbey, located at the centre of the city, is the main visitor attraction in the city, after the Roman Baths, with 330,000 people visiting each year, making it the most visited parish church in the country, outside London. It is the site of the coronation of Edgar, first king of all England in 973 AD, has 640 wall tablets and 847 grave slabs, and the windows occupy some 80% of the building’s wall space. The fan vaulted ceiling is one of the finest in the world.
