Are you passionate about a local venue?
Become a citizen curator
What's a citizen curator?
It's a bit like Wikipedia except focused on capturing digital content relating to objects in cultural places. You may have a real passion for a local venue and have a great deal of knowledge about their collection. Now you can use the OOKL platform to create the content and submit it to the venue so it can be shared with the world.
Who can be a Citizen Curator?
The project is open to anyone - from a student seeking valuable CV building experience to a retired person looking to give something back to the community. All that really matters is that you must have a deep interest for the subject matter and be able to write clearly and effectively.
Why get involved this way?
Many venues need help digitising their collection - so your effort, knowledge and interest may be of great help to them. It's completely free and all that is required is the use of a digital camera and access to a PC.
What's involved?
It means popping down to your local venue, taking pictures of your favorite objects and making notes that will be useful to describe them. Then you need to upload the content to the OOKL website and submit it to the venue.
what happens to my objects?
When submitting an object to a place you are assigning all IP rights over to the venue. Venues will review submitted objects and have the option to edit it and make them 'public'. Once public, other users can view and comment on them.

Places are under no obligation to publish objects you have submitted to them
Getting started
Step 1. Join OOKL.

Step 2. Ensure the place you want to help is listed on OOKL.

Step 3. Make sure the place permits photography and that your favorite objects are not already listed.

Step 4. Collect the images and information on site.

Step 5. Log on to OOKL, go to Objects \ My Objects \ Create Object and fill in the fields and submit to the place.

Congratulations, you're a citizen curator!
